I recently visited my brother in Auburn, California. The early morning light there as the sun swept over the American River canyon and onto the grassy slopes was a lovely vision, the scene enhanced by the neighbor’s iris garden. Taken above the area where the footings for a dam on the river, years in construction and debate, are now being returned as much as they can be to a natural state.
